fter the departure of H. H. Pope Shenouda III on March 17, 2012, the Coptic Orthodox Church has begun the process for electing the successor to the throne. Seventeen candidates were chosen by the Holy Synod and the nomination committee.

On October 13, 2012, the list of seventeen candidates was brought down to five as announced by H.E. Metropolitan Pakhomoius. The five candidates were HG Bishop Raphael, HG Bishop Tawadros, Hegomen Fr. Raphael Ava Mina, Hegomen Fr. Seraphim el-Souriany, and Hegomen Fr. Bakhomious el-Souriany. His Grace Bishop Bola has conducted interviews with each of the five candidates. The videos are shown below:

Three out of the list of five candidates were selected on October 29th. The three candidates are shown above. Their names will be put into the altar lottery, which will take place on November 4th. The global Coptic church will observe Lent-level fasting from October 22 to October 24, and from October 31 to November 2. A blind-folded child will pick out the candidate from the lottery who will become the 118th Pope and Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria. The chosen candidate will be ordained on Sunday, November 18th, 2012.

Pray that God may choose the right shepherd for His church.
